A Personal Welcome: There Has to Be a Better Way
Can I tell you something I've noticed?
The families that I meet
aren't usually looking for more
information about dementia.
Honestly, they're drowning in it.
What they're really looking
for is someone to help them
make sense of what's happening.
Because when the person that you've
known your whole life suddenly
starts doing things that don't make
sense to you or stops doing things
that they've always done, it's
easy to feel like you're failing.
I don't think that you are.
I'm Carlin Lenfestey.
I'm a physical therapist,
dementia educator, and coach.
But before any of those things,
I was a granddaughter just trying
to understand what was happening
to the people that I loved.
Every week on Navigating Dementia,
I'll share stories of my own family,
from families I've worked with, and
from moments that completely changed
the way I think about dementia care.
Together, we'll learn how to look
beyond the behavior, ask better
questions, and make sense of what
can feel so confusing because I
believe that there's a better way.
I'm so glad you're here.
Let's find our way together
